Description

My Grandparents, Harold and Willie Weed when they got married in 1941. He was a mechanic in the Army Air Forces fixing the aircraft. Never went overseas, was at Stockton Field where the airport is now. My mom had three uncles in the Marine Corps. Rolland Frost was one, he was killed by the Japanese in the Philippines. My Grandparents had a nice long life together, they first met at a dance at Stockton's Civic Auditorium. My Father latter worked for the Air Force on the B-1 Bomber program during the 1970s.  My Grandfather is wearing his crossed prop mechanic's badge.  He was a Sergent First Class.  He earned a Good Conduct medal, a National Defense medal for being in the military before December 7th 1941.  He also latter had a WW2 Victory medal.

Interesting photograph I have a few of my great grandfather who was a Marine in the 5th Amphibious Corps, Signal Battalion, Headquarters Company. He joined in 1943. He was on Iwo Jima before he was killed on the February 27th 1945. We really don't know much about him, neither does my grandfather because he was born sometime after his passing. The only details we know is that he lived in the same town I live in today. From what I understand my great grandfather had met my great grandmother his senior year not sure if they married hence why my grandfather does not carry his surname. From what I do know is that he was a PFC when he was killed and posthumously awarded the purple heart after his death. He has been one inspiration as to why I joined the Marines besides my grandfather.
