Description

I have had the reference book "Doughboy To GI : US Army Clothing And Equipment 1900 - 1945" since I was a kid.  I liked watching old War Movies and was interested in the stuff the soldiers were using.  My Grandfather was also in the Army Air Forces during WW2.  My reference book was mainly just photos of one guy's collection of militaria and didn't have an example of every US Military issued item.  Sometimes I see something not in my extensive reference book.

I was at an estate sale and saw this US Military box.  Another guy had bought it already and he let me take some photos, but then the battery in my camera died on me.  I have seen US Military issued boxes like this one used for dishes, barber hair cut kits, etc.  It might be a general purpos box that has the inside partitions installed when issued for various purposes.  There was a plaque on the top dating it to September 1st 1929.  It is marked to the Jeffersonvill Quarter Master Depot.  There is a extra flood light bulb inside the box.  I went to take it out for another photo but my camera died on me.  I have seen boxes like this with leather straps for handles.  This box shown here had canvas straps for the side handles.
